Ari Lehman

Flint Horror Convention welcomes ARI LEHMAN as a guest to the 2012 show. Best known as the FIRST JASON, Ari has carved out a place for himself in the hearts of horror and metal fans with the brash, horror inspired heavy metal music of his band First Jason. Ari will be signing autographs and talking with fans all day and in the evening will be melting their faces off with his band mate at the afterparty. Known for his outgoingness and deep appreciation of horror fans, we’re honored to have Ari join us for the Fall con.

FROM HIS WEBSITE –

“ARI LEHMAN is the actor/singer who has the unique honor of having played the role of the First Jason Voorhees in the Paramount Classic Horror Film "Friday the 13th" (1980). The original "Boy In The Lake" himself, Ari played a crucial role in the film's famous final scene, in which he suddenly emerges from the icy waters of Crystal Lake. Working with Special Effects Master Tom Savini at an early age gave Ari a deep appreciation for the Horror Greats including Lon Chaney, Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff and Vincent Price. Ari currently records and tours the US and Europe with his Horror Rock Band, FIRSTJASON.”

Kevin Van Hentenryck

We are honored to announce our second guest for the Fall convention - actor KEVIN VAN HENTENRYCK! Kevin is best known for his work in the BASKET CASE films but since those films has become an accomplished sculptor as well.

FROM HIS IMDB BIO -

Kevin Van Hentenryck achieved instant cult status as the engagingly guileless and nerdy Duane Bradley in Frank Henenlotter's marvelously gory and sleazy low-budget horror splatter gem "Basket Case." Kevin was born on May 28, 1953 and hails from Oak Park, Michigan. He initially began acting in 10th grade. Van Hentenryk had an uncle who was a performer in radio, television, and movies and an aunt who had acted in a soap opera for many years. Kevin graduated from Ferndale High School in 1972. Van Hentenryck first met Henenlotter while attending the American Academy of Dramatic Art in New York City. He eventually wound up playing his first substantial lead role in Henenlotter's "Basket Case." The slender, curly-haired and boyishly affable Van Hentenryck brought a winning blend of sweet wide-eyed innocence and charming awkwardness to the part of Duane. He had an amusing cameo as Duane in Henenlotter's terrific "Brain Damage." In addition, Van Hentenryck reprised the role of Duane in the two hugely enjoyable "Basket Case" sequels. He more recently gave a hilarious performance as a deranged psycho in the uproarious horror comic short "The Catskill Chainsaw Redemption." Outside of acting, Kevin Van Hentenryck has had a successful career as a self-taught sculptor.
