Film Description:
This documentary examines the historical influences that contributed to the “Death and the Maiden” images from early Renaissance art, and how this motif manifests in contemporary Western culture. This documentary includes clips from the cult horror films “Slaughterhouse” (1987), “Madman” (1981), and “Laid to Rest” (2009).
Filmmaker Biography:
Kevin McGuiness is a Canadian artist and filmmaker who has produced a number of award-winning short films. His accolades include recognition from the Indie Short Film Competition, The American Motion Picture Society and awards from the Big Bear Horror Film Festival. Kevin obtained his Honours Bachelors degree in Visual Arts in 2005 from Brock University and is currently enrolled in a doctoral program at the same institution. In the future, he hopes to continue producing short films with collaborators from the Niagara Region in the genres of drama and horror.
